There is only one options available for the Kala Infrared PEMF Mats, the full-sized mat. Healthy Wave Mats have a large variety of different models containing different levels of PEMF Technology depending on your needs as well as a variety of different sizes of mats. All Healthy Wave Mats also contain multiple therapies such as far infrared heat, negative ions, low level red light therapy and natural crystal energy.

The Healthy wave mats focus on true earth based frequencies within the 0-30Hz range.

Kala advertises 9 programs of 3-64Hz.

From our testing there are only 4 programs at 3Hz, 8Hz, 10Hz, 25Hz, 40Hz*, 48Hz*, 56Hz*, 60Hz and the final program randomly goes through the previous 8 programs.

Some of their later programs are questionable in their accuracy of the pulses. Program 5 which is 40Hz has 30 individual groups of pulses but some of these groups contain 2 pulses which need to be factored in to achieve 40Hz. Although in previous programs such as 8-10Hz some of the pulse groups contain extra pulses as well but are not factored. While this can be a valid way of counting frequency it should be consistent through the programs.
Program 6 is called 48Hz which appears to run 60Hz but cuts off various parts of the pulses.
Program 7 is called 56Hz is which appears to run a 60Hz EMF but with some small cut offs mid pulses.
Program 8 which is said to be 64Hz runs a 60Hz continues sine wave and has no switching on and off of a magnetic field making it an EMF and not real PEMF. Please view the images of the programs or watch the video showing their PEMF programs for a full understanding.

From the options the Healthy Wave Mats provide, you have more programs and frequencies in all the different mat models available. Healthy Wave Mats also use frequencies that align with your brainwaves and can have some brain entrainment effects. The Kala PEMF Mat has limited frequencies and some of these frequencies are not PEMF but continues EMFs.

The Kala Infrared PEMF Mat advertises their gauss as 966. From Our testing we were able to find a peak gauss of 22.2

All Healthy Wave 5 Therapy High Intensity mats have the same gauss (20+ gauss) or higher (30+ gauss) in the PRO mat compared to the Kala. While in the Kala specs the gauss is highly overstated at 966, 20+ gauss is still a solid intensity to deliver good PEMF distribution over the surface of the mat.

A grounding test can be performed measuring a person’s body voltage using a multimeter by connecting the black lead to the ground and having a person hold the red lead. When the person is introduced to electronic devices or “electro smog” their body voltage can increase due to the impact of the electronics. In comparison, if the person is being grounded their body voltage will decrease.

The Healthy Wave 5 Mat has significant grounding properties. When performing the body voltage grounding test, the base reading of 3.2 volts is reduced to approximately 0.38 volts which is almost a 90% reduction. This significantly reduces any unwanted electro smog you would normally be exposed to from other electronic devices and can contribute to similar effects as grounding would. Although using a grounding sheet like the Healthy Wave Grounding and Shielding Sheet does provide more effective grounding and can provide a 98%+ reduction is body voltage while doing this test.

While Kala advertises their mat as grounding properties our testing reveals it does not when performing this type of grounding test as the base reading of 3.8 volts increases to 5.8 volts when the mat is plugged in and heating turned on. It may be possible they are referring to the PEMF feature, as PEMF is often conflated with grounding even though PEMF does not have grounding properties.
Their controller does appear to have some minor emf remediation built in as when the controller is plugged in, but not turned on, the body voltage reading is higher then compared to when the heating elements are turned on. While this doesn’t reduce the body voltage it does help mitigate it.

While the Kala mat does mitigate some of the effects of its electronic components, it does not have a net grounding effect on the user. In fact, it increased body voltage during the grounding body voltage test. In comparison, the Healthy Wave Mat demonstrated significant grounding properties, reducing body voltage by nearly 90% in the same test. This result clearly shows that the Healthy Wave Mat provides substantial grounding benefits.

The Healthy Wave Mats are much more then just a PEMF Mat as we say they are a “5 Therapy Mat” The additional therapies include; Far Infrared Heat, Negative Ions, Low Level Red Light Therapy and natural Crystal Energy. It is easy to receive all these therapies as well as they are all integrated into the mat!

The Kala Infrared PEMF mat advertise similar therapies as the Healthy Wave Mats, minus the red light therapy, they instead have a TENs therapy applicator.

The main difference is the Healthy Wave Mat has passive low level red light therapy while the Kala Mat has TENS therapy. The TENS therapy requires separate applicators to be attached to the user and will deliver low level muscle electro stimulation causing the muscles to contract.

Overall, when comparing the original Healthy Wave Mats 5 Therapy Mats to the Kala Infrared PEMF Mats, the Healthy Wave Mats offer more in virtually every category. The Kala Infrared PEMF Mat is comparable in features such as infrared heat, PEMF intensity, and coils.
