Biomat offers 3 primary sizes for their crystal infrared mats; the Biomat Profession which is their full sized mat we will be reviewing in this comparison, the Biomat Mini  and Biobelt.
Healthy Wave Mat offers a wider variety of lines of crystal amethyst infrared mats with multiple lines offering including PEMF therapy and additional a product line up of just amethyst infrared mats without the PEMF therapy. In this comparison we will be focusing on the Healthy Wave High Intensity Pro Mat as that is our more recent 5 therapy mat in a comparable size to the Biomat Professional

Infrared heat is the pillar of both mats; the infrared heat is generated by heating up crystals such as amethyst and tourmaline. Both mats have certified gemstones. The Biomat Professional is made of primarily amethyst crystals and some tourmaline. Healthy Wave Mats expand on this by not only being made of AAA amethyst & tourmaline gemstones but additionally include obsidian and jade gemstones.

When it comes to heating both mats have a max temperature of 158°F (70°C). In the heating test we performed (which can be viewed in the comparison video) in 30 minutes the Healthy Wave Mat heated up to over 43°C while the Biomat Professional lagged in heating time only getting to 36°C in the same period of time. As you need to preheat the mats faster heating time can allow you to use your mat sooner and enjoy your relaxing infrared mat session.

Both mats have the same temperature range but the Biomat only offers 4 settings for the heat while with the Healthy Wave Mat you can set the temperature in single degree increments. The Biomat Professional if you have the temperature set between 122°F to 158°F the controller will only run for 3 hours while if set at lower temperatures you can at 2, 4, 8 or 12 hour increments. In comparison the Healthy Wave mat provides more versatility allowing you to set it in 1 hour increments from 1-12 hours at all temperature settings.

Finally while both mats are approximately the same size the Healthy Wave Pro High Intensity Mat has significantly move coverage area with the crystal coverage area being 63.5”x25.5” compared to the Biomat Professional at only 56.5”x 25.5”

As demonstrated in our comparison video both the Healthy Wave Mat & Biomat Professional have EMF protection from the heating elements, compared to many other mats which we demonstrated in the comparison video that do not provide EMF shielding from the heating elements.

The second important form of EMF shielding & protection is electro-smog mitigation. Electro-smog is created from the electrical fields from electronics and can increase your bodies’ electrical imbalance. Biomat does help reduce this through their own unique process using what they refer to as a I.C. (Interception Chip) technology. While the Healthy Wave Mat uses a separate technology through proprietary grounding and shielding layers inside the mat.

Our technical team performed this test through using a multi-meter on the voltage setting with the ground lead connected to the ground plug and the user holding the red lead while lying on the mat. This allows us to measure to voltage imbalance compared to the ground which is commonly referred to as electro-smog.

When testing the Biomat Professional there was only a small increase of less than 10%, this does demonstrate it is helping neutralizing the electro-smog, but it is not reducing it. In comparison other mats we have tested had significantly large increases

When testing the Healthy Wave High Intensity Pro Mat not only is the electro-smog neutralized, it is dramatically reduced by 88% providing the best electro-smog protection.

When performing this electro-smog test there can be some variation depending on the electromagnetic environment you are in. Our testing is performed in an average electromagnetic environment to simulate realistic results a user may experience.

Healthy Wave High Intensity Pro provides a 88% reduction in electro-smog when mat plugged in and turned on.

Biomat Professional tested a 9% increase in electro-smog when mat plugged in and turned on.

Both the Biomat Professional and Healthy wave mat have negative ion layers in their mats. As demonstrated in the comparison video both mats were able to generate similar negative ion levels. In comparison other infrared mats tested produced much lower levels of negative ions.

Red light Therapy is an additional therapy found in select Healthy Wave Mat models, there are no Biomat models which use red light therapy.

PEMF (pulsed electro magnetic field) therapy is another unique therapy found in the Healthy Wave Mat that is not found in the Biomat Professional.
